Jason Kidd came through with 20 points Wednesday, helping Dallas overcome an 18-point deficit and win its 13th straight game -- 96-87 over New Jersey.
The Mavericks fell into an embarrassing hole against the worst team in the NBA and, despite staging a big comeback, still found themselves tied with 3:10 to play. Dallas then went on an 11-2 run to end the contest and move within four victories of equaling the longest winning streak in franchise history.
The Mavericks cut their deficit to eight at halftime and then outscored the Nets by 16 in the third period.
Caron Butler added 18 for the Mavericks, who are 2 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the best record in the Western Conference.
Rodriguez Beaubois had 16 and Dirk Nowitzki contributed just 12 while making 3-of-16 shots from the field.
Devin Harris led the Nets with 21. New Jersey has lost two straight since winning its seventh game of the season against New York March 6.
