A California jury Tuesday decided convicted serial killer Rodney Alcala should be executed for killing four women and a 12-year-old girl during the late '70s.
The jury deliberated for just a few hours before reaching its decision, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The jury convicted Alcala Feb. 25 of killing Robin Samsoe, 12; Jill Barcomb, 18; Georgia Wixted, 27; Charlotte Lamb, 32; and Jill Parenteau, 21. It was Alcala's third conviction in the death of Samsoe, and he had been sentenced to death in both previous convictions but both convictions were overturned.
Alcala, 66, who has been in prison since his 1979 arrest in the Samsoe case, was connected to the other slayings through DNA, blood and fingerprint evidence, the newspaper said.

in 1978, said Jed Mills, a contestant who sat next to him on the show.

Alcala had served time in prison for the 1968 rape of an 8-year-old girl, CNN reported.

Alcala won a date with contestant Cheryl Bradshaw, who then refused to go out with him, CNN said. Months later, in 1979, Alcala killed Samsoe, of Huntington Beach, Calif.
