Each spring, Eastern Washington University’s Get Lit! Festival invites selected authors to Spokane to share their work and their passion for writing. This year's festival takes place from April 14th - 21st. Some of these authors enjoy a reputation in the Northwest, while others have earned national or even international renown. The weeklong celebration features presentations and readings, writing workshops and panel discussions, visits by authors to K-12 schools and colleges/universities, community readings, poetry slams, and a book drive, along with other events. The Get Lit! Festival seeks above all to foster a love of reading, writing, and celebrate the world of literature among all those in our community.
During this years festival, EWU will be hosting a Business Writing Workshop that will feature two prominent business individuals. This will allow participants to learn about effective rules and processes that will assist them in their future business writings. There will also be workshops on effective grant writing as well as editing. These workshops will help individuals improve their writing ability as a whole.
Some of our featured authors this year will be Richard Russo, Janet Fitch, Reza Aslan, Anna Lappe, Sallie Tisdale, and Patricia Smith. These authors along with others will be discussing their various novels, in an open forum. We will also be featuring a variety of author panels on different topics, as well as a number of writing workshops on various subjects.
